I'll be taking a brief intermission from breads
this week to post about the fun workshops I'm hosting for some of sweets by sillianah's youngest friends. They're on Spring break, I'm free during the day - why not make use of the time and do something fun?
These gals are huge fans of cake pops! Can you believe they also follow baking blogs and know who Bakerella
is? I'm so impressed and delighted to have something in common with them - especially since I'm more than twice their age! The fact that they all bake at home is wonderful... little bakers after my own heart.
I decided to make red velvet cake and Oreo truffles for us to work with since those are always a huge hit with this crowd. We even made our own cream cheese frosting to go with the red velvet cake! I wish I had remembered to take photos of the process...
The time went by much quicker than I expected - three hours of rolling, dipping and sprinkling goes by fast with so many extra hands. The girls got pretty creative with decorating the cake pops - even making fun animal shapes!
While picking up last minute supplies at AC Moore, I spied these terra cotta pots on sale - they were the perfect vessel for displaying the pops as well as transporting them home.
Makes a sweet Easter centerpiece, don't you think?
