Thank you for the wonderful memories, new friends, and lots of glorious food. See you next year!
Desserts from the Big Summer Potluck kickoff party. My contribution was the pistachio cherry cupcakes with lime frosting and lime bars (not pictured). Unfortunately, I couldn't stay the entire weekend but was so grateful to have met so many wonderful food bloggers and partake in all the amazing food that night!
The Ultimate Dessert Face-off in which accomplished pastry chefs of NYC were challenged to make desserts with Chilean olive oil. The soiree was hosted downtown at Puro Chile. My favorite was the olive oil gelato by il laboratorio del gelato. The ultimate winner was Kate Cowan, pastry chef of Delicatessen and her olive oil cakes with marscapone cream and almond brittle.
Finally there was Pig Island, where Yoko and I were stuffed like pigs. Another amazing event at Governor's Island by Food Karma Events. The most memorable bites for me were the pork patty melt by Talde and pork belly with sauteed peaches and crunchy croutons by Edi and the Wolf. The only thing that would have made this event perfect was some kind of cold, sweet dessert to cap it all off on a hot day.
Disclosure: The Chile Olive Oil dessert event was a public event, but I received a private invitation to attend. I was provided complimentary tickets to attend Pig Island, courtesy of Food Karma Events. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
