PRIVATE CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

Package A

Intro to Brush Calligraphy | 2 Hours | $80/person

Medium: Brush Pens

This is a full workshop experience plus a few customized extras; perfect for creative groups looking to learn brush calligraphy (with fine tip brush pens). Instruction will include mastering the basic strokes used to form and connect letters, words, and phrases. Lillian will share her tips to help guests develop their own whimsical style and bring their lettering to life!

What’s Included:

  • 2-hour guided instruction and hands-on practice

  • Take home starter kit for each guest, which includes: a practice workbook, two (2) brush pens, a personalized gift, and two (2) blank note cards

Package B

Tea & Calligraphy | 2 Hours | $70/person

Medium: Brush Pens

In this beginner-friendly class, Lillian will introduce you to the fundamentals of brush calligraphy (with a brush pen).

We’ll begin our time with a brief tea ceremony to quiet our minds and let go of the week’s worries. This is called “mushin” (Japanese) or “wuxin” (Chinese), a state of “empty mind” practiced by artists and martial artists.

After savoring our tea, we’ll warm up with the essential brush strokes, review the lowercase alphabet, and practice creating a collection of serene words and phrases. This will enable you to craft your own hand-lettered artwork, serving as a gentle reminder to pause, and be fully present in your everyday life.

What’s included:

  • 2 hours guided instruction and hands-on practice

  • Tea tasting + sample of loose leaf tea to take home

  • Take home packet including a medium-tip brush pen, practice worksheets, and a personalized name card

Package C

Calm Calligraphy | 2 Hours | $60/person

Medium: watercolors or brush pens

 

This is a beginner-friendly brush lettering workshop for groups who might not necessarily need any frills or kits, but are looking for an activity to de-stress, and unwind from the week.

We’ll begin by warming up with a few basic brush strokes, then we’ll practice a set of calming words/phrases so that you can create your own hand-lettered piece to remind you to slow down, and truly be present in your everyday life.

No watercolor/painting or lettering experience necessary. All supplies will be provided to use in class.

What’s included:

  • 2 hours guided instruction and hands-on practice

  • Take home packet including a personalized name card, practice sheets, and watercolor paper/practice paper

  • Optional Watercolor Starter Kit available, see below

Workshop Terms

  • There is a 6-person minimum for all workshops

  • 10% discount for groups of 10 or more!

  • All workshops include in-class use of supplementary supplies such as practice paper, brush pens/ink, etc.

  • Additional fees apply for:

    • travel outside of Ulster County, NY

    • venue/meeting space rental

payment Terms

  • A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date.

  • The remaining balance will be invoiced in two installments, with the last payment remitted 1 week prior to your event.

  • Any events booked less than 14 days in advance, must be paid in FULL to reserve your date(s).

  • An invoice will be emailed accordingly and must be signed and paid within ONE (1) business day.

cancellation/refund policy

  • ALL cancelled events will forfeit the $100 deposit as your event date and time is reserved just for your party and supplies must be prepared/purchased in advance.

  • Events cancelled at least 30 days prior to the event date will receive a full refund (minus the $100 deposit). Any events cancelled after that will be non-refundable.
