Why Tea + Calligraphy?
As you may know, tea plays a significant role in my daily routine. Not only is it a grounding ritual for me, tea is ingrained in my culture as a Taiwanese-American.
Recently, I’ve learned about the ancient practice of "wu xin". Literally translated from Chinese, it means "no mind" or empty heart-mind. It's a mental state practiced by martial artists, or anyone trying to achieve a calm and clear mind, free from distractions and worries of daily life.
This practice is often incorporated into tea rituals, to take a moment and simply appreciate what's in front of you.
My hope is to bring together calligraphy, community, creativity, and calm.
